WHAT FACILITIES DO YOU OFFER?

The sprawling campus includes extensive world-class facilities, including dance and music studios, computer and science labs, a large auditorium, an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a multifunctional Astroturf. The canteen is managed by local health food chain Kauai.

WHICH EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ARE OFFERED?

Swimming, water polo, netball, tennis, athletics, hockey, soccer, cricket, 7’s rugby, mountain biking, table tennis, equestrian, scuba diving and golf. We also offer a variety of different dance activities including ballet, contemporary, hip hop (tap in college) and North & South Indian dance styles.

01 DO YOU HAVE A CURRICULUM IN PLACE?

Our Early Learning School curriculum is inspired by the internationally renowned Reggio Emilia philosophy. We embrace a child-centric learning environment which encourages curiosity and independent thought. We have a holistic, developmental curriculum in place which focusses on Literacy, Numeracy and Life Skills, as well as specialist lessons.

02 WHICH SPECIALIST LESSONS ARE INCLUDED?

Specialist lessons include Art, Music, Dance, Drama, Physical Education, Swimming and Coding. These lessons are age appropriate and are offered incrementally. Starting with Stage 1, who enjoy Music lessons, to Stage 5 who enjoy the full bouquet of lessons. All lessons are included in the school fees and operate during the school day.

03 DO YOU OFFER AFTER CARE & IF SO, WHAT DOES IT ENTAIL?

Our Adventure Zone starts directly after the school day for Stage 1 to 5 children. The children enjoy a healthy, hot meal in our dining hall before they take rest or sleep. An activity is planned after sleep time, as well as, a snack. Parents may collect their children any time before 17:30. Stage 1 and 2 children may remain after school until 15: pm at no additional charge provided they bring their own lunch.

04 ARE THE CHILDREN POTTY TRAINED IN STAGE 1 & 2?

Our Staff are competent at potty training our young children and do provide guidance and support to our parents as well. We strive to ensure that the experience is as effortless and comforting as possible for our young children. We provide nappies at no charge.

PREPARATORY SCHOOL


01 DO YOU OFFER AFTERCARE?

We offer an after school facility known as Adventure Zone. Parents may collect their children any time before 17:30.

02 DO YOU HAVE A STEAM OFFERING?

Yes, coding and robotics commence from Stage 5, and “tech invasion” lessons are offered as an extra mural from Grade 4. This elaborates on our robotics and coding, eventually building up to drone technology. We also offer a “young engineers” course, which is an add-on, for any interested parents and students.

03 WHAT SUPPORT IS GIVEN TO A CHILD WHO STRUGGLES ACADEMICALLY?

Senior Preparatory staff offer extra lessons two afternoons per week. Junior Preparatory extra lessons (known as Helping Hands) are offered in the morning before the start of the school day in collaboration with occupational therapists, speech therapists and a counsellor.

04 DO YOU HAVE ANY INTERNATIONAL ASSESSMENTS?

Yes, the International Benchmark Tests are written annually. Grades 3-6 write the Science, Mathematics and English examinations.

05 HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH BULLYING

Our notion is one of restorative action and not punitive (albeit if the matter warrants it, we have procedures to follow and will do so). Should an issue be bullying (established to be a once off incident) then we engage with the students concerned and inform the relevant parents of the matter, to address it. Need to know feedback is given to respective parents until the matter is resolved, and contact is made with students to verify that all is well. Should a matter need escalation, the Head of school meets with the parents concerned and indicates any punitive measure that fits the incident, as per our Code of Conduct.

06 DOES THE SCHOOL TOUR?

Yes, our school tours for sport including the international 7's rugby team to Mauritius, soccer and netball teams to KZN, hockey teams to Nelspruit and tennis teams to Sun City. Our Grades 4-6 also attend a 2 nights/3 days academic enrichment/ bonding tour. We also provide the opportunity for students to tour internationally - a Senior Preparatory Cultural Tour to the USA took place in 2019.

07 WHICH COMPETITIONS DO YOU HAVE FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE CULTURALLY INCLINED?

Dance World Cup, Royal Academy of Dance examinations, Dance Star, Eisteddfod of the Performing Arts, SA Dance School Championships, Concours D’Arts and FEDA. We also host the Trinity College London music examinations.

01 DO YOU OFFER THE CAMBRIDGE CURRICULUM?

Reddam House Waterfall is aliated with the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) and offers a diverse and stimulating subject choice. Our students prepare for an IEB National Senior Certificate.

In addition to the above, we are offering an innovative alternative to the Cambridge curriculum, which would start at year 13. It affords students the opportunity to complete modules in the business and science field. This course is called the 'International Foundation Year' and once students have completed this 6 Month post-matric course, they are guaranteed entrance into any NCUK university.

02 HOW COMPETITIVE ARE YOU WITH SPORT?

We have students who represent South Africa and are rated top competitors in their fields of interest. We are also league champions in sports such as touch rugby and have recently won the B league swimming gala. We do encourage our children to participate in sport, as it leads to a healthy body and building a healthy lifestyle.

03 WHAT IS YOUR PASS RATE LIKE?

We have a proud record of producing excellent IEB Matric results since 2015. 2020 certainly started on a high note for our School with the release of our exceptional 2019 IEB matric results, where not only did we maintain our 100% Bachelor’s Degree pass rate for the 5th year in a row, but our 41 students obtained six rankings in the top 1% and 23 in the top 5% of all IEB candidate per subject nationally. We are very proud of our overall group average of 72% and our very own Natasha Yoko, who featured in the IEB Outstanding Achievement List with a national ranking within the top 5% of all IEB students in six subjects or more. These truly extraordinary results are testament to the hard work and dedication of our outstanding teachers and students.

04 WHAT SUBJECTS DO YOU OFFER?

English, Afrikaans, IsiZulu, Mathematics, Maths Literacy from Grade 11 only, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Geography, History, Business Studies, Accounting, Drama, Visual Arts, Dance Studies, Music, IT, Computer Applications Technology, Advanced Programme English, Advanced Programme Maths, Life Orientation. Specifically for the Middle school (Grades 7 to 9) we offer Physical Education, Sport Sciences, Coding and Robotics, Digital and Graphic Design.

05 DO YOU OFFER A CURRICULUM THAT QUALIFIES MY CHILD FOR BOTH LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITIES?

Yes, Reddam House Waterfall is affliated with the Independent Examinations Board (IEB). This internationally respected curriculum provides access to all universities in South Africa, as well as, presents global opportunities for our students. Previous students have been accepted into world renowned universities in New York.

We are also excited to announce that Inspired has signed an exclusive partnership with the world renowned Berklee College of Music (berklee.edu) to introduce an innovative curriculum and artists-in-residence programme that sets new standards in creative and artistic education in youth. The programme will be called “Inspired by Berklee”. Reddam House Waterfall is one of the ten schools globally selected to form part of the Inspired By Berklee pilot programme with world-renowned Berklee College of Music.

The partnership will see all Inspired schools globally being assigned educators from Berklee’s award-winning faculty, student, and alumni base, who will work with Inspired school faculty and students to develop contemporary music, dance, theatre, and creative education programmes and experiences at participating schools. The partnership will extend beyond the development of a traditional performance arts curriculum but will also encompass technology, media production, and creative entrepreneurship education. The goal of the partnership is to provide Inspired students with the creative skills and mind-sets needed to succeed, lead, and innovate in a fast-paced 21st century economy.

06 DO YOU OFFER EXTRA LESSONS?

Yes, students can book a one-on-one session with their teachers to go over any content after school. Teachers have booking sheets that students can use to set a date and time for extra lessons. Teachers also offer workshops to revise content that students struggle with.
